Laser cutting of adhesive foil
Laser cutting of adhesive film enables precise geometries for technical adhesive films – even with complex outer and inner contours. Krückemeyer uses laser cutting to deliver highly precise solutions for assembly, protection, or design.

Häufige Fragen zum Lasern von Klebefolien
With laser cutting of adhesive films, self-adhesive film materials are cut with a laser beam precisely along digitally defined contours. Unlike punching, no fixed tool is required — the geometry is implemented directly from the CAD data.
This method is particularly suitable when:
- very fine, highly detailed contours are required
- frequent layout or design changes are planned
- prototypes or small production runs are needed
- no tooling costs should be incurred
- high precision for thin films is required
Laser cutting offers maximum flexibility while delivering clean edge quality.
Different self-adhesive films are processed – depending on material construction and thermal suitability, e.g.:

- PET-, PP-, or PE adhesive films (PVC-free)

- Transfer adhesive films (carrierless)

- Self-adhesive protective or functional films

- Thin multilayer laminate assemblies

The technical feasibility depends on film thickness, adhesive type, and the desired cut quality.

Pricing is mainly determined by:
- Material type and thickness
- Contour complexity
- Cut length per part
- Quantity
- Data preparation (vector data required)
- desired delivery form (e.g., on a roll or as a single part)
Since no tooling is required, conventional tooling costs are eliminated – with larger series, however, an alternative process can be more economical.
There is usually no fixed minimum order quantity.
Laser processing is particularly economical for individual parts, samples, or small production runs. For higher volumes, we assess on a case-by-case basis which production method is technically and economically optimal.
For a quick and precise calculation, the following is helpful:
- Vector file (e.g., DXF, AI, or PDF)
- Material designation or desired adhesive properties
- Material thickness
- Quantity
- Preferred delivery form
- Information regarding the intended application
The more precisely the requirements are defined, the more efficiently the implementation can be carried out.
Yes, prototypes and test samples can be produced on short notice.
This enables rapid validation of fit, function, and the application process – particularly in the development phase or prior to a potential product-line change.
