Laser cutting of foil enables highly precise cuts of technical foils – clean, gentle on the material, and with the highest dimensional accuracy. Krückemeyer processes a wide range of foil types in single-layer or multi-layer systems.

We laser-cut films (i.e., adhesive film materials) in custom formats—from very fine to large-format. PVC-based film materials are excluded.

When laser cutting multi-layer laminated film materials, individual layers can be selectively processed separately. This enables the laser to realize kiss-cut-like cuts as well—i.e., defined depths, without fully separating all layers.

With laser cutting of foils, technical or self-adhesive foils are precisely contoured using a focused laser beam — entirely without mechanical tools.

This method is especially suitable when:

Laser cutting offers maximum flexibility and enables rapid adjustments in the development process.

Depending on the material structure, different film types can be processed, e.g.:

  • PET-, PP-, PE- (except PVC films)

  • self-adhesive-coated films
  • protective and surface protection films
  • selected laminate or composite materials

The suitability depends on material thickness, thermal resistance, and the desired cut quality.

  • Contour progression and cut length
  • Level of geometric detail
  • Quantity
  • Data preparation
  • Desired delivery form

Since no punching tool is required, tooling costs are eliminated – for very high quantities, however, an alternative process may be more economical.

There is usually no fixed minimum quantity.

The laser process is especially suitable for prototypes, pre-production runs, or small series. For larger runs, it is assessed which production method is technically and economically most suitable.
