Feature IIIPunching without damaging the backing

Generally we kiss-cut with contour accuracy on the carrier material, without cutting through the backing. Additionally, with laminated film the individual material layers can be selectively processed and formed layer by layer.

Häufige Fragen zum Laminierfolie stanzen

During punching laminate films, single- or multi-layer laminate films are contour-cut with high precision – tailored to component geometry, protective function, and the application process.

The process is ideal for:

  • Surfaces to be permanently protected (e.g., against abrasion, UV light or chemicals)
  • Visible windows, cutouts, or functional areas to be integrated
  • Multi-layer laminate constructions to be processed with precision
  • Automatic lamination or assembly processes to be supported

Punched laminate films deliver precise, reproducible results – even for complex contours.

Various types of films and film composites are processed, including:

  • PET, PP, PE or PVC films
  • Protective laminates (scratch-resistant, UV-resistant)
  • Self-adhesive laminating films
  • Transparent or opaque functional films
  • Multilayer laminate structures (one material in multiple layers or different materials)

Additionally, customized material combinations with adhesive systems are feasible.

The achievable precision depends on material thickness and build-up.

Through modern stamping technology and optical quality control, tight tolerances and high repeatability are achievable – even for delicate internal contours or cutouts.

Depending on the application, a number of die-cut configurations are available:

  • Loose individual pieces
  • On rolls (for automated processes)
  • On sheets
  • With release aid (finger lift)
  • With modified liner (paper or film)
  • As a multilayer, ready-to-install composite

The configuration is tailored precisely to the laminating or mounting process.

The cost structure is determined, among other things, by:

  • film type and material construction
  • number of laminate layers
  • contour complexity
  • tooling costs
  • quantity and call-off quantity
  • additional processes such as lamination or liner change

Through modular manufacturing steps, both prototypes and series production can be implemented economically.

For an accurate cost estimate, the following information is helpful:

  • Technical drawing or die-cut contour
  • Material construction (film type, thickness, adhesive)
  • Requirements for protective or functional properties
  • Preferred delivery form
  • Project or annual quantity
  • Information about the application process

The more detailed the information, the faster we can develop a suitable solution.

Samples and prototypes can be realized on short notice, provided the materials are available.

Thanks to flexible converting processes, development and test samples can be prepared quickly – ideal for validations or pilot runs.
